Bastard son of a mother on the run Told time like the future through the barrel of a gun When you tell the truth you’re bound to get shot Damn the weather whether you like it or not Let me tell you again Hey, you’ve got the right to be gone But I didn’t write every wrong or sing every song about you Bastard sun of a culture on the cure Time is not a river despite all the things you’ve heard When you’re telling lies you’re bound to get by Curse your luck whether you luck out or not Let me tell you again Hey, you’ve got the right to be gone But I didn’t write every wrong or sing every song about you

Shit Eater 04:02
All you poets think you know it, it’s all Huck Finn and no Tom Sawyer (All you poets you think that you know it) All you lawyers high on fire, I’ll meet you down in the pyre (All you lawyers high on fire) Come on set yourself on fire With my mouth full of shit, I’m starting to look like you All you lovers run for cover, it’s all sunshine until you suffer (All you lovers) Come on lover, run for cover With my mouth full of shit, I’m starting to look like you You said, “you think you know it” “You think you know me?” With my mouth full of shit, I’m starting to look like you

Don't want to age gracefully Old bones don't suit me Let's go out in a blaze of glory Close your mind, and don't worry Take a drink from that cup Feel the moon lift you up And pull you down, next to me Fall in love, nothing's for free Hey, if you're out there I could sure use some help To do what's right without feeling left out Or they'll be nothing left to feel right about Tie a string around my throat So you remember me the most I'll hang around, can you feel me? I'll be the stars up on your ceiling Hey, if you're out there I could sure use some help To do what's right without feeling left out Or they'll be nothing left to feel right about I wouldn't do well as old bones Hey, if you're out there I could sure use some help To do what's right without feeling left out Or they'll be nothing left to feel right about

The Beatles already did it so I might as well get stoned And I’m feeling so alien maybe I should phone home You told me, “Stop singing about ghosts” So I’ll start digging up bones, oh yeah I love you by the moon, I hate you by the sun Roll me over Beethoven, I’m the chosen one I told you, “Stop chasing them ghosts” You’re impressing no one, oh yeah You know what I want, I know what you need We just want to feel something, they all believe in You’re playing the victim but I’m just playing house I’m 50 Marshall stacks, you’re quiet as a mouse I told them to cut the lights But you’re still acting out, oh yeah You know what I want, I know what you need We just want to feel something, they all believe in You’d rather act like you’re alive But it looks to me like we’re a dying breed Love can come and love will go It will always show off its snarling teeth You know what I want, you know what I need You just want to be someone that I believe

Houdini 03:05
Now you see me, now you don’t Just leave your death on the basement floor I want to be hit not missed but I feel like John The Baptist Every single thing you touch turns to shit I don’t want to hear it I don’t want to hear it I don’t want to fear it Said you felt it but now you don’t Just leave your noose on the bedroom door I want to believe I’m missed but I feel like John The Baptist Every single thing you touch turns to shit I don’t want to hear it I don’t want to hear it I don’t want to fear it I don’t want to be your man Fairweathered friend out on the lam Take a ride, passerby, seek and hide Straight into the void of the spirtless I don’t want to hear it I don’t want to fear it

You crossed me once, you’ll cross me again. The road less travelled is a fairweathered friend. Oh, Brooklyn Bridge. I’m afraid of failure, I’m afraid to begin. Turned out like a boy scout with no patch to stitch in. Oh, Brooklyn Bridge. If you’re falling to the ground, just build it up. If you’re falling to the ground, just build it up. If you’re falling to the ground, Brooklyn Bridge is falling down. Just Build it up. You crossed me once, you’ll cross me again. I’ve walked down roads, always know where they end. Oh, Brooklyn Bridge. I sold my soul to the company man. Walked out to sea to see what she meant. Oh, Brooklyn Bridge. If you’re falling to the ground, just build it up. If you’re falling to the ground, just build it up. If you’re falling to the ground, Brooklyn Bridge is falling down. Just Build it up. You crossed me once, you’ll cross me again. The road less travelled is a fairweathered friend. If you’re falling to the ground, just build it up. If you’re falling to the ground, just build it up. If you’re falling to the ground, Brooklyn Bridge is falling down. Just Build it up.

Baby, everyone's so rich, and so well read So good looking, and so well fed But, I'm just old rags, that you won't wear But I can turn, turn, turn, into a good angle But somebody already loves me Somebody just like you Baby, everyone's extinct and so alone Here comes your man, he's on his phone But somebody already loves me Somebody's already thinking of me Somebody just like you You're just sad eyes, that keep on falling down You can cry some passage home But somebody already loves me But somebody already loves me Somebody's already thinking of me Somebody just like you

Grow your hair long, passed your shoulders Where it come from, grow it until you're a little older Let your guard down, peacetime soldier Put your hands up waving white flags, if you're feeling a little bolder The war is over, but I didn't feel the shock Got caught up in lightning and the thunderous talk You're going to change either way I'm all bad vibrations, you're all bad luck Bad news for the good ones, if I'm gone than you're the sun Burned out like a star now, so there was no love lost I believe in nothing, she fumbles through the signs of the cross You'll stay the same either way I'm all bad vibrations, you're all bad luck Bad news for the good ones, if I'm gone than you're the sun

Hallowed be thy name, past or presence it’s all the same. If you’re calling out for me, I’ll be howling out in vane. Don’t lose your head. All hail the music man, traitor don’t you hear the way he sang? If you’re singing out in the middle of the night then death to all the ones who sold out the light. Don’t lose your head. Don’t lose your head, don’t you come around here again. You’re gonna lose your head if you come around here again. I will destroy you, I’ll be the man who. I will destroy you, I’ll be the man who. Sells myself off to, those who consumed you. I will destroy you, I’m howling out for you. Don’t lose your head. Don’t lose your head, don’t you come around here again. You’re gonna lose your head if you come around here again. You’re gonna lose your head.

Wanna feel so good it hurts, Wanna get paid but I don’t want to work Wanna live before I die, do some drugs and kiss the sky Wanna float out passed the light Wanna get fucked up and become the night Wanna die by your side, when Jesus comes I won’t hide These are a few of my favorite things But I’ve never done any of them Gonna be someone tonight, gonna get messed up and die Wanna be the man my father was Don’t wanna be a casualty of the cause Wanna live forever in the past But the truth is coming down on me fast Wanna be right about everything Never seen a fight that I cannot win Hail, Hail rock and roll, when Jesus comes I won’t go These are a few of my favorite things But I’ve never done any of them Gonna be someone tonight, gonna get messed up and die

Your Shadow 04:41
I want to meet somebody new so I can pretend to be somebody else for a while I want to fall in love again so I can pretend to love the man that I’ve become I’m my father’s son, I’m a child again I want to be your shadow so I can hurt the ones who’ve put you down and sold you out I want to believe in something else but I’m just rotting meat that swears and sleeps until you’ve gone it won’t be long till I’m judged for these things Come on come and get me, strike me down, cut off my head Feeling like a zombie, wandering like the living dead Maybe I’ll be better on the other side I want to meet someone old so I can pretend that you’re the one who’s changed the most I think I want to cry this time so I can Feel the hate that navigates you back to me The hate you feel is trying to find a home Come on come and get me, strike me down, cut off my head Feeling like a zombie, wandering like the living dead Maybe I’ll be better on the other side I want to be your shadow I don’t want to be all alone

Born To Lose 01:54
Looking so thin, but I feel so heavy Can you bear the weight that lies on me? I've only got eyes for you But they're out late looking for some clues Clue me in, I'm not here to win Are you looking to lose? Spirits got me haunted, I don't care Calling out Hail Mary's, but no one's there I've only got one life to live But I'm sleeping late, you've got to get to give Give me something, I'm not here to win Are you looking to lose? I'll be your dog, but I won't roll over

about

On April 1st, 2013 we journeyed to West Hollywood, California to make the record you're hearing for the first time today. We called 11AD studios at N. Kilkea and Oakwood our home for nearly 40 days. During that time we recorded over 20 songs and played together on a level I had not experienced before or have since. This time together was the band at its most pure, and most dedicated. The record appears to you now as it would have seven years ago - no edits, no overdubs, no re-recording.

In contrast to the original track listing some songs have been added, and some have been left out. The second "Spoils Of Youth" version we made was a different thing, we had hardly played together between the time we returned from California and when we redid the record in July of that same year. "After Death" is mainly recorded live off the floor, and "Spoils Of Youth" was largely overdubbed. I won't get into the reasons why we chose to not release this version of the record, but I'm happy you're all able to hear it now.

Thanks for your support, and thanks to Cameron, Jeff, Keegan and Sean for being a part of the experience.

Sincerely,
Pete
