Now you see me, now you don’t Just leave your death on the basement floor I want to be hit not missed, dead 'til morning out on the graveyard shift Every single thing you touch turns to shit I don’t want to hear it I don’t want to hear it I don’t want to fear it Said you felt it but now you don’t Just leave your noose on the bedroom door I want to believe I’m missed but I feel like John The Baptist Every single thing you touch turns to shit I don’t want to hear it I don’t want to hear it I don’t want to fear it I don’t want to be your man Fair-weathered friend out on the lam Take a ride, passerby, seek and hide Straight into the void of the spiritless I don’t want to hear it I don’t want to fear it

Just as we’re sitting down, you’re about to get up Working for double time, but it’s never enough Enough to know you’re not alone, when you’re not with me at home You’re working on Christmas I’m watching the time Everyone’s eating, and you’re on the line You’re working on Christmas - but, everything is all right Just as you’re heading out, out into the quiet streets You’d look through every window, just to see how it feels, to know That no, you’re not alone, when you’re not here with me at home You’re working on Christmas I’ll turn off the lights Everyone’s sleeping, but you’re on a night You’re working on Christmas, but everything is all right Cause time will melt away like snow Oh, time it melts away the soul When it counts, oh, it moves so slow But, soon you’ll be with me back home You’re working on Christmas I’ll turn on the lights You’re on your way home, I’m watching the time You’re working on Christmas, but everything is fine

about

We made this version of Houdini while we were demoing for the first Teenage Kicks full length in the spring and summer of 2012. This was the only song we recorded during that time where we went outside of our basement. Kenny Meehan and Ian Romano were working out of their Tapes & Plates studio and had recently mixed the Single Mothers S/T EP which we, and everyone we knew, loved. The main differences on this version of Houdini is that we don't slow the tempo in the choruses, and Christian plays all downstrokes, something I am not capable of. Is this important information for the public to know? Probably not. But, I do hope you enjoy :)
